Ugh fk it, [in]

I am not nearly as active as I used to be, expect a lot less posts and engagement compared to my previous meta games. Also, I might forget to check the thread in case of longer absence feel free to poke me with a pm.

This is not a return or anything, just wanna try this shadow thing out and feel like helping Numble's game a bit. I might be more active than my post suggests depending on how into it I get.

our benefit will be that we have yet another datapoint for tracking down mafia later, since they probably wouldn't dare to lie about their vote.

Not awkward enough not to react to your post now. In fact you pretty much proposed what they should be doing with their votes meaning there isn't going to be a gigantic difference with how their voting patterns would be in a normal game?

maybe because it's still r0?

Fully aware. I am saying not having it will be weird.

[vote Cruxwell

Interested in fighting good ol kontra again.

shadowvote Cerdric
I heard you're good, chance to prove it.

@Rain
Ok A and B are good points, but as for C it would just mean they have to stay consistent - e.g consistently find new targets or stick to the same one.

Edit: on phone so votes look messy, I do mean to place them.

@Cerdric

The plan with my vote was to get you engaged and actually react to the game and see how you will wriggle out of the vote. Standard game logic no?

[vote Styx]
[shadowvote Karn]

Please participate properly or don't sign up, not reading the overwhelming reasons for public shadowvotes can be a poor excuse to not publicly cast one. If you have your reasons to doubt whether it's a good idea or you disagree on it - SPEAK UP. Like checking the thread just to make posts like that and people letting it slide is very counter-productive.

I have no idea what you are asking me. I have fully laid out all of my thoughts so far. Edit: Did you not see the part where I voted for Styx as well? Or the entire point of my post to Cruxell where I told him to become active?

I thought you just updated the tally which is my mistake, and no I don't think you expressed it that well. Sometimes a concise answer is a lot more powerful and telling.

Wrong. There's a lot of EXTREMELY important stuff going on BECAUSE it's R1. R1 is the biggest opportunity for the village to catch the mafia unawares and force them into playing defense and damage control. Sure, there's little official information given to us, and thus few absolutes to speculate on, but that should not prevent us from forming opinions and holding discussion as has been done. The more we force people to voice opinions, the higher the likelihood is that we force a mafia to publicly cement a poorly thought out opinion that could later lead to his capture.

Nevermind that you, in particular, should have something VERY important to talk about in the form of your current lynch tally.

The votes we all make here are arguably more important than any we are likely to make for the rest of the game, because they have the potential to be the foundation for the votes we make later in the game.

This is obvious, if you don't think like this your sense of gameplay is flawed.

Also, not that it's important in hindsight since we can't ask him why but votes like Karn's are confusing me. He says we are voting based on sheeping and absurd accusations and his vote represented no different. Not a huge loss overall. Rain on the other hand was a critical loss as he's a strong village helper.

Lawliet, SiX and Larah. What are your current reads on players?

@Lawliet
a.
Check my iso -

#4
This was when I discovered that there was an actual lynch in addition to shadowvoting.
And also discovered that public shadowvoting became a thing.

Both these votes were treated as standard RVS votes - to make people engaged.

You can see from iso 5 that my dislike of inactivity kicks in here already, iso 6 proves what I'm saying
about iso 4 and so does 7.

8 then goes on to tackle actual issues, inactivity and counter-productive posts. "oh I don't have 5 minutes
to read a topic my life is too busy" then don't sign up in the first place lol.

And as silly as this may sound, I have so far only used votes as an interrogation tool - having two of them has been wonderful, meaning I haven't treated one more powerful than the other.

___

b.
Once I applied the vote, Cerdric made good effort with typing on the thread, Cruxell was not AFK - as Rain stated, Karn and Styx might as well have been inactive in his book. I moved onto them, in addition, the pressure applied was not added on making it ineffective and losing a lot of hours in the round.

_________

@ Cerdric's talk with Rain, I am not saying it did not happen - however, don't take it with face value. I myself spoke to Rain on TS and he told me how powerful public shadowvoting was and never mentioned anything about making it better if we just stopped with it already.

Welp, due to a lot of hesitation I feel like I ruined a lot as well. I was peeked and contacted but due to uncertainty with Cerdric I couldn't tell how pro-village it would be to come out and say it with the mafia shadowlynching and me not being able to legitimise the claims in one round. If a lot of good players would be left(that I'm aware of), I could count on them doing the rest of the math but I've been gone far too long to know who's competent or not. I apologise for my poor gameplay.

@Cerdric the last couple of games I have played here I experienced similar. Ever since then I have been aloof when it comes to these games, if I join with little expectations it's a lot more relaxing to play. Although frustration is not non-existent when activity is low. Sorry for your poor experience.

Why would you not try to save the person who peeked you? Why would you not try to stop the village from lynching their own suicidal detective?? Were any of my arguments really that confusing/unintuitive that you wouldn't take them as just basic village actions?
I came back to a lynched Cruxell (I last checked when this round began).

Plus I don't see what compelling arguments would have won over the vote. It was already mentioned that no one tried to protect him. His play style was anti town. I also stated why I didn't instantly jump on your suggestions, did you read my post? A role claim would be best left to himself - I could have proxied his role potentially but I checked too late for that. And if it isn't enough, I also apologised for my gameplay.

@way - I believe my answer to Cerdric also says why I hadn't acted on the wagon.

I feel like this game is more ad hominem than it's mafia/ww.

@Lawliet, since no one it was on myself I guess.

In all fairness Styx, the difference is you went on the thread, to post you didn't have the time - I forgot to check the thread. AND Cerdric went on to question me about it, it wasn't left alone.

I do get your frustration about experienced players trying to dominate the new ones by getting angry they don't do the "right thing". Although in a lot nicer words I think Cerdric just want people to actually discuss the game, problem is no one really did it in depth for anyone to see how you usually do things.

To give an image as to how much in depth words can be analysed, actions, behaviour and how active each individual can be - I once participated in another game on mafiascum (largest mafia forum out there, at least back then) and the thread ended up with over 6100 posts, almost 250 pages. As much as it may be hard for a beginner to perceive there is a SHITTON to analyse and say in these games.
